120 Employees and Community Members Benefit from Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Programme

Accra, Ghana | 21 October 2026 - As part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Rabotec Group, in collaboration with Banahene Specialist Hospital, organized a breast cancer screening and awareness programme at its Head Office, reinforcing the company's commitment to promoting employee and community wellbeing through preventive healthcare.

The initiative sought to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage early detection through screening, and educate participants on the importance of regular health checks and proactive health-seeking behaviour.

Speaking about the rational behind the event, Mr. Bismark Laryea Coney, Head of Financial Non-Governmental Organisation (FNGO) at Rabotec Group, underscored the importance of early detection in improving treatment outcomes and saving lives.

"The motivation behind this screening exercise is to provide a platform for people to know their health status through the necessary assessments. Early detection can play a crucial role in saving lives and improving treatment outcomes," he said.

A key highlight of the programme was an interactive breast cancer awareness session facilitated by Madam Angela Osei Bonsu, a Midwife at Banahene Specialist Hospital. She encouraged participants, particularly women, to remain breast-aware throughout the year and to make breast self-examination a regular practice.

Madam Osei Bonsu advised women to set aside a specific day each month to conduct thorough breast self-examinations, stressing that breast cancer does not always present with pain and that prompt medical attention should be sought whenever unusual changes are detected.

Following the educational session, participants underwent clinical breast examinations conducted by healthcare professionals from Banahene Specialist Hospital. The medical team also provided one-on-one consultations, counselling, health guidance, and referrals where necessary.

The programme benefited 120 participants, comprising Rabotec Group employees and members of surrounding communities. In addition to the health services provided, food items were distributed to participants.

The exercise successfully enhanced awareness of breast cancer, reinforced the importance of early detection, and promoted a culture of preventive healthcare among participants.

Rabotec Group remains committed to championing health and wellness initiatives that create meaningful impact for employees and communities, while fostering partnerships that contribute to healthier and more resilient societies.
